"...Over 6,700 young people across Australia are forced to live in nursing homes because they have nowhere else to go..."
The Young People In Nursing Homes National Alliance is Australia's first peak body for young Australians with disability and high and complex support needs.
We promote the rights of young disabled Australians with high and complex support needs living in residential aged care facilities (or at risk of placement there), to have choice about where they live and how they are supported. Our focus is the development of accommodation and support services in the community that enable young people with high and complex support needs to have 'lives worth living' of dignity and independence.
Announcement: Victoria’s Department of Human Services is undertaking a Quality of Life evaluation for individuals receiving support services through that state’s "my future my choice program".
"my future my choice" is part of the Council Of Australian Government’s national Younger People In Residential Aged Care initiative. This evaluation will assess improvements in the quality of life for young Victorians participating in my future my choice; and evaluate factors that have contributed to successful outcomes.
If you or your family member have participated in the "my future my choice" program and are interested in taking part in this evaluation, please contact Nadine Holgate from the Summer Foundation on 03 9894 7006, or by email at
