IT giant creates website community for carers, health professionals and family members.
An IT company has developed a new online service which provides carers with advice and support from professionals.
ConnenctingForCare.co.uk has been created by Intel with the aim of uniting families, carers, healthcare professionals and social workerscomma and creating a sense of community.
"Technology provides a fantastic way of connecting people together and there are some communities that really need a forum to provide that exchange of information and support," Christine Claus of Intel's Digital Health Group told the BBC.
The site will be created in partnership with Counsel and Care, the Princess Royal Trust for Carers and the Queen's Nursing Institute.
It includes an area where carers can design a personal profile and join a number of networks; there are also message boards and a "spotlight" section to highlight the particular achievements of individuals.
This follows news that Saga magazine has established the Respite for Carers Trust which aims to provide carers with holidays and on some occasions pays for substitute care.
