Australian Productivity Commission Inquiry |
|
|
Chaired by emininent Australian, Professor Warren Hogan, the Productivity Commission's 2003 Inquiry reviewed the pricing arrangements then operating in residential aged care facilities.
The Alliance used this opportunity to indicate the inability of young people in nursing homes to access the state managed disability services they needed when resident in federally funded aged care settings.
It also used its submission to shine a light on the inequity all Australians confront in their efforts to be covered by a variety of insurances for long term care and support; and to argue for significant rationalisation and reform in this area.
This submission carries the call for a national no fault insurance system that can deliever long term care and support based on need, not age.
