Aged Care Inquiry Print

Because of its capacity to reveal the crisis in accommodation and service delivery that young Australians with high and complex suopport needs face, instigating a Senate Inquiry into the YPINH issue has been a key Alliance aim.

In 2004, a Senate Inquiry into Aged Care was announced with the issue of young disabled Australians living in aged care facilities as one of five terms of reference.

Along with many YPINH themselves, their families, friends and other stakeholders, the Alliance made two submissions to the Inquiry.

The first scoped the issue and argued for significant systemic reform to fix this longstanding problem.

The second was developed in response to a focus on the problem and not the solutions then evident in Inquiry hearings then being held nationally.  The second submission, titled A Blueprint for Change, offers broad ranging but practical solutions to this enduring issue.
