"...Over 6,500 young people across Australia are forced to live in nursing homes because they have nowhere else to go..."

The Young People In Nursing Homes National Alliance is a national organisation that promotes the rights of young disabled Australians with high and complex support needs living in residential aged care facilities (or at risk of placement there), to have choice about where they live and how they are supported.

Our focus is the development of accommodation and support services in the community that enable young people with high and complex support needs to have 'lives worth living' of dignity and independence.

UPDATE:  Held over 2 days in Melbourne on 19 and 20th August 2008, Shaping the Future Today is a specialist conference that will offer stakeholders a once in a lifetime opportunity to describe a way forward that crosses borders and jurisdictions and does so in a spirit of collaboration and partnership.

Inaugural (first) Pamper Picnic, (location to be confirmed!), Carers Week 2008, 22 October, noon-2pm: As a committed supporter of the YPINH Alliance, Maurice Blackburn Lawyers is holding a Pamper Picnic in Hyde Park Sydney to give families and carers of YPINH a chance to relax and compare notes. This social event is designed to give family carers a break and the chance to meet others with similar concerns and share information and experiences. Family members and other carers will enjoy a gourmet picnic, relax with free massages and take home a 'show bag' of goodies. More information as it becomes available so watch this space!
